Site Visit to Campbell Overlook

The view from Campbell Overlook at sunrise.  I was amazed how beautiful the silhouette of ridge line was against the morning sun.

These pictures were taken in the summer.  Out of all the vistas I visited along Newfound Gap Road, Campbell Overlook was the most negatively impacted by encroaching vegetation.  This topography of the vista is not nearly as steep as it is at Chimney Tops which means it does not take as long for vegetation on the slope to obscure the view.  Vegetation along the top of the overlook has already eliminated the view into the valley.

Additional view of encroaching vegetation blocking the view of the valley.

The  treeline on the edge of the overlook is already encroaching on the view of the prominent ridge line.
Another view of the encroaching treeline at the edge of the overlook.
